SUNDAY 29TH JANUARY Sherwood Western Riding Club second hand western tack / clothing sale. FREE to club members, bring your items for sale and keep the proceeds 10% charge to non club members on sales, proceeds go to club funds. Sherwood club members can use the indoor arena from 10am to 3pm for £15 and lee will be available for general coaching. Hot lunch and refreshments will be available.

2012 Show News We have just about finalised our dates for 2012 and due to a couple of clashes had to change some of them so please check on the events diary for confirmation. Our 'March' NRHA / BR Train and rein is now the 3rd and 4th of March. We will also have our full clinic calendar available by the end of December. The new 'Sherwood Riding Club'will also be underway in 2012 giving members extra discounts, use of the arena on club days and special offers and priority booking on lessons, training and clinics! if you are interested in recieving information on the Club send us an e mail and we will make sure you get a new members pack. The Club will also be arranging exciting overseas trips for 2012, so watch this space!!!

Here are some pictures from the Yo Ho Ho christmas show. Many thanks to all our competitors and visitors over the 2 days. We had such a great time and can't wait to do it all again next year. Oakridge's reputation for it's fun shows is spreading far and wide!! Well done to all the horses and riders, it was a brilliant show. The very competative fancy dress class gets going!! Dirk and fellow competitors warming up! Mary and Kieron were just perfect under the tree Dawn and Remedy came prepared for the cold!

As a big thank you to all our friends The Oakridge YO HO HO pre show clinic on Saturday December 3rd will be half price!!! This does not include lunch but Richard is on chef duty so good food at great prices will be available for the clinic and show. The bar will be open both days too!! Santa has left some gifts in his grotto and mince pies and mulled wine will be on offer. Schedules are available on the Sherwood Circuit Shows button, so come and join us, have some fun and maybe win some great prizes. The winner of our Halloween fancy dress class won a headstall valued at £45! The shop will be open for those all important christmas pressies and all competitors get 10% discount on all purchases on Sunday and a free entry into a prize draw fro free coaching with every purchase up until christmas. .This is an un affiliated show so anyone can compete.
'Your Horse Live' The team arrived home on Sunday evening after a very tiring but amazing weekend at Your Horse Live. Lee and Andrew put on a fantastic display on Saturday and Sunday to a packed audience. Cheering and clapping followed each display and we were constantly busy on the trade stand on both days. Thanks to Dawn who came for a day out to see her horse, and ended up helping us out on the stand! and of course the guys who stayed at home making sure everything was okay. We handed out hundreds of leaflets on Oakridge, British Reining and WES so hopefully Western riding got some great PR. It was lovely to meet up with old friends and great to make so many new ones. Thank you to all who attended the Halloween Social night and show. With great company super spooky costumes and hotly contested classes, we all had a brilliant time. Here are just a few snapshots of the show!!
Looking forward to seeing you all at the Halloween Show this weekend! Saturday night is a social night, all welcome, food and refreshments available, so call in and join the fun. The clinic is Saturday, spectators are welcome and the show starts at 9am Sunday We have some great prizes, cafe and licensed bar open Please note novice horse classes can be ridden two handed for any age horse Exciting News for 2012...... The Oakridge Arena is to host an auction of western / natural horsemanship / Parelli trained riding horses and youngstock open to all breeds in April 2012. A professional auctioneer will run the event and an equine veterinary practice will be available to carry out pre sale vettings. The arena has superb facilities which will be made available to all, to provide areas toshow / try horses entered in the sale. A 60ft roundpen will also be available to show youngstock to prospective purchasers.Overnight stabling and camping facilities will also be available for those who wish to stay overnight. This sale will be advertised nationally and on like minded websites and forums. The auction will be on a commission basis with a commitment entry fee. A catalogue will be produced and video of horses entered for the sale can also be posted on The Oakridge Arena page This will be the first sale of it's kind in the UK, and a great opportunity for buyers to view lots of horses started and trainedusing these methods under one roof. Breeders of youngstock will hopefully ensure the babies go to like minded people to continue their career's. We have chosen April to allow horses to have shed their winter woollies, 2011 babies time to become independent and be handled, and before the start of the show season so that riders wanting new horses have the whole year to go out and play. It is also our intention to hold a second auction in September 2012,making this a double yearly event at the start and finish of every season Initial interest from breeders and producers indicate that this will be a very well attended event.If you require any further info you can email on lita@oakridgequarterhorses.co.uk.

The opening week ... What an amazing week we have had! our friends rallied and swept, dusted, mopped, cut grass you name it, they did it. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all you guys that turned up to help us open. It was not asked for and completely spontaneous...we will never forget it, and our first riders enter the arena!!! Al Dunning opened the facility with grace and style ...what a gentleman..he and his wife Becky were a pleasure as our guests. We hope they come back next year. The opening night with dinner guests and standing room only for the Rockin Horse Show The third generation enters the arena for the first time! Jay Rutter riding 'Spud' accompanied by father Lee and mother Becky at his very first show. I think it's now official, we are open!!

Special awards, loads of prizes, amazing sponsors prizes and a warm welcome for everyone. Saturday night is party night, and it really will be a party with games, entertainment and great food. Tickets are on sale from 13th June at £25 each to include the hog roast and bbq (there will be a veggie option) and entrance to the evening show. Gala dinner tickets are available also, a 3 course gourmet dinner with a mexican twist!. Please, please book early as this show is open to the general public as well as show competitors and places will be limited. The hog roast will be accompanied by a live mariachi band, entrance to rockin horse show, and games for young and old included in the ticket price. STOP PRESS.......... BAY REYNER, FIRST MARE IN FOAL IN THE UK TO SANTA CRUZ WHIZ!!! UPDATE ............. The clay base has started to go in, lights are all up, speaker points are in and the arena looks amazing! The 20 new stables are awaiting mats being fitted, the drinkers plumbed, and can be occupied at the end of next week. The business end of the arena ie public buildings are progressing well, and the landscaping / turf and planting will get underway shortly, In other words we are nearly there!!!!!!!! All of the fantastic trades people are working very hard to get us over the line after the delays we have experienced.
Stock is arriving daily for our new Tack Store and all our current lines plus some exciting new ones will be available. Jim Taylor saddles, Schutz Tack, Yucca Flats Blankets, Metlab Bits, Professionals Choice, AD Tack, plus many more. Oakridge is to have a facebook page where everyone can keep in touch and the grand opening of the new store will be well publicised. ROCKIN HORSE PRODUCTIONS TO PERFORM AT AUGUST SHOW
The Oakridge Arena will be hosting the famous 'Guido Louis' and Rockin Horse productions on Saturday evening, August 13th during the Oakridge 3 day show. This is a closed event for show competitors and ticket guests only. Guido will also be performing at the arena on Saturday 26th November in a 2 show christmas special. Tickets will be available for general sale.
SANTA CRUZ WHIZ to stand at Stud for 2011
We are very proud to announce that Santa will be standing at stud to a limited number of outside mares this year. We are very excited to see his babies on the ground in 2012. His lovely temperament, amazing ability and top drawer pedigree make 'Santa' a great new addition to the UK stallion lists.
